The Cotswold Chauffeur Bath, Castle & Bradford on Avon Tour

Bath AbbeyThe World Heritage site of Bath is forever associated with Jane Austen and splendid Georgian architecture, but it is also home to the Roman Baths, a magnificent Abbey, a thermal spa and fabulous boutiques shops.   bath-baths and abbey_2523910bSet on the beautiful river Avon it was an ancient settlement long before the Romans tamed the natural hot springs and created the town of  Aquae Sulis. The Roman baths and temples are some of the best preserved in northern Europe and their setting inside the Georgian building is enchanting. While we are there we can also watch some of the best buskers in the UK performing outside while we have a coffee in the many pavement cafes. Royal Cresent Up the hill and round the corner is the world famous Royal Crescent of imposing Georgian mansions. Much of it is still in private hands (Hollywood “A” listers amongst them!) and is an incredible sight during the opening of the Bath Festival each autumn when every single window houses a candle while fireworks thunder overhead. You could choose to spend all day in Bath, alternatively there are some lesser known gems waiting just outside the city that are well worth discovering. Farleigh Hungerford and Nunny Castle both boast 14th century castles with colourful histories including, haunting, lead coffins, and general skulduggery. Nunney Castle Heading for home now, why don’t we stop off at the beautiful town of Bradford on Avon, and visit one of the last existing complete Saxon chapels dating back to the 11th century, the 14th century Tithe barn and the Ancient Town bridge? There is so much to see and do!         …. Click for more tours
